Headstock Aesthetics

Text and images you copy will automatically show here

I'm curious about people's opinions on the difference between the Epiphone and Gibson headstocks. I was at the barber last week and he was talking about his preference for the "open book" look. A few decades ago I had an SG and the headstock broke and I was traumatized by it so I left those guitars alone until I picked up an epiphone yesterday.

I might just be trying to protect my own feelings, but as a Telecaster player I'm just used to understated headstocks I guess and the Epiphone just makes more sense to me. It does the job. It holds the tuning machines.

And now I just can't stop seeing it. The Gibson looks like an upturned waxed mustache worn by a douchebag villain in a cowboy movie and the Epiphone looks like kissable lady lips. Why what I want some dastardly Daniel guitar when I can have a kissable kimberly or Kristen or Katie or whatever?

Your thoughts?

I Might Have A Problem

So I guess I have a thing with affordable guitars and have developed a kind of palette. Picked up the Epiphone SG today. Couldn't help myself. Tagged the one that really blazes. That G&L is hard to put down.

My son and I visited Hank's Music Exchange in Portland (Oregon), and I was stoked to see they had a bunch of interesting Reverends with great prices. Apparently there was an expo in town and the Reverend rep made a deal to get them started with some of the show guitars. I have a sensei but I hadn't seen one with two P90's before. I'm not sure if this is good for me or not. I just want to go back now. Trouble.
