My motherboard and CPU bit the dust, and I can't afford DDR5 RAM prices, so I'm looking for AM4 replacements. Open to 5700x, 5800(x), would maybe consider a 5700 or 5800XT depending on the price. Would love to pair it with a decent B550 motherboard too. Local for me is 48820.

Something recently happened with my desktop that seems to have fried my motherboard (MSI Tomahawk B450) and CPU (Ryzen 3600). I obviously need new ones, but I currently have 32GB of DDR4 RAM (Crucial Ballistix 3200 - 2x16GB) that works just fine.
On to my question - I'm not sure I can afford 32GB of DDR5 RAM right now. Is it worth buying a generation-old motherboard/CPU to continue using my current RAM, or would it be worth trying to upgrade to an AM5 combo? Would the upgrade with, say, 16GB of DDR5 RAM be worth it?
