9.3k for a 2019 with 196k?
I know I was posting the other day about a 2010 .. but I haven't pulled the trigger yet .. that one's still there, I think.. I'm looking at other options (most of which do NOT last very long in inventory .. unlike that 2010...) but I just came across a 2019 with 200k on it. They want 9.3k on it. It's at a Toyota dealer.
The Carfax says one minor accident, passenger side, looks like it was so minor it did no visible damage, because there's no visible damage from the pics, and there's no carfax reports of repair on it, and if it had been repaired by insurance, i'm mostly sure that it would've been done by someone who reports to CarFax. Though it is possible that it could've been repaired by someone who doesn't report to carfax .. anyway, minor damage to the passenger side it said. Nothing was visible from the photos, though. It's 40 miles away from me, so all I can go on right now are the photos, but I am probably going to go and take a look at it first thing in the morning, if it's still there.
The photos look really damn good, I would absolutely not guess that the car has been driven 200k miles almost all of them between when it was purchased by it's second owner around end of May 2021 at 33k miles to end of April 26 at 196k miles... that's right around 2600 miles per month, someone had a hell of a commute with that car. . . about 85 miles a day average.. On the bad side, the CarFax does not show any maintenance besides a single tire replacement done during it's second owner's time owning it. So, zero record of that is .. not good, right? I mean, even if you stop at most quick oil change places, those even report these days, don't they?
For sure, I need to look at the battery health, and it seems that there's been an issue with the coolant lines running through the cat? Of course, with zero record of any maintenance done on that, unless it was done by the first owner (a fleet owner, government, could possibly have had that repair done in it's first couple of years), that has probably not been repaired .. anyone have any idea what the cost of doing that repair would be, long out of warranty? Or the cost of getting someone to hack around it? :-D
Anything else to look at ?
Or... is this just too high a price to pay for this? Should I move on?
This is something I'd probably keep for quite a while, my '07 is going to have 400k on it pretty soon, but that's the ex's car now... and we've had that in the family for 14 years...
edit: i'm probably going to go have a look, but unless they are willing to drop pretty significantly on price, i don't think this is gonna be the one. this is too high, and unless their online version of the carfax is significantly edited out and they have a better one they can show me with real maintenance records, lack of records is no bueno. for all i know they ran it 50k between oil changes. and it could still be on original everything beyond tires with 200k. They do have a bunch of other cars on their lot that are potentially interesting, but no other Priuses .. so I'm going to at least have a look around at their inventory.
