Pencil Sharpening

Pencil Sharpening

I've never been one for knife sharpening but I've recently been playing around with sharpening brow pencil in the Naganita sword shape and discovered how satisfying it is.

I've tried a similar shape with polychromos to get more surface area for filling large areas and it works nicely.

I'd love to see the creative ways you all sharpen yoir pencils!

I have a trip planned to Tamil Nadu mid November to mid December (flying in and out of Chennai).

I was hoping to spend most of it around Pondicherry but I realise that it's monsoon season at that time.

Where can I travel from Chennai to avoid monsoon?

What are the nicest inland places around Tamil Nadu?

Mostly interested in pilgrimage, temples, ashrams etc but open to anything. Have travelled in India alot but never South.

I just got the Tombow monograph and I hate it. The lead is scratchy and feels uneven to write or draw with, and the pencil doesn't feel ergonomic, it's too thick.

Pilot Super Grip is probably my favourite of these 4, but I've loved them all until Tombow.

I want something 0.5-0.7 that has replaceable erasers.

Any thoughts on Uni Kuru Toga - roulette, standard, metal- wood grip or advanced?

Or Pentel Graph Gear.

Any other recommendations?

Are there any pencils that allow you to switch between different lead grades in the same pencil?

I was expecting the pencil would come already sharpened in the blade shape.. It did not :(

I watched a few videos and tried to sharpen it.. but failed. And I'm pencil artist with good dexterity!

I desperately wanted to make it work but I gave up after it broke 3 times because I didn't want to waste any more of the product. It wasn't even thin enough before breaking every time.

I don't know what went wrong :( I'll have to enjoy it as a regular pencil as I'm nowhere near a store to have it sharpened.

*Edit - I'm so happy with all your feedback, thank you!! I'm going to practice on a cheaper pencil (MQNY my strong eyebrow pencil, which I believe is a dupe) and will update progess once I do. I'd love to see pics of your pencil and brow technique if anyone feels to share!
