Linear Algebra for Engineers

I've been reading Axler's Linear Algebra Done Right book. Although I find it interesting and intuitive, I kinda want to use another book that will compliment my studies on Finite Element Analysis. I already finished Linear Algebra back then but it was some time ago and it was through a faculty made handbook back in college. This time i really wanna set a stronger foundation in hand calculations

Maybe something that has exercises related to Mechanics of Materials. With a balanced amount of proofs, hand calc, software and examples

Numeric Linear Algebra, I already got it covered with Kreyzsig's admath book.

Thanks!

HP Inkjet 110 series Printer

There were a couple of months that i didn't get to use my printer, when i used it all the button lights blinked an orange color and I couldn't print my stuff.

After a while i tried to turn it on but it wouldn't turn on. I tried the online hp youtube tutorial where you have to "drain" the power by unpluggin, plugging etc.

I used my multimeter to check the the cord along with the power module and its wires towards the motherboard, no problem there's an output.

So the problem is probably on three things, a. The motherboard, b. The printhead, c. The ribbon cable connecting the buttons towards the motherboard.

C. The ribbon is okay per checking visually.

B. When i took the printhead for visual checking, the spring showed up out of nowhere, i didn't force my way to get the printhead out.

The spring is 1 inch long and probably 1/8 in diameter

So is that what might caused the problem? Or is there more?

Thank you

TIL: the brutal King Leopold II of Belgium wanted the Philippines

TW: Image

A Congolese man, Nsala, looking at the severed hand and foot of his five-year-old daughter who was killed, cooked, and cannibalised by members of the Force Publique in 1904. Thompson, T. Jack (October 2002). \"Light on the Dark Continent: The Photography of Alice Seely Harris and the Congo Atrocities of the Early Twentieth Century\"

In 1866, Leopold instructed the Belgian ambassador in Madrid to speak to Queen Isabella II of Spain about ceding the Philippines to Belgium, but the ambassador did nothing. Leopold quickly replaced the ambassador with a more sympathetic individual to carry out his plan.^([34]) In 1868, when Isabella II was deposed as queen of Spain, Leopold tried to press his original plan to acquire the Philippines. But without funds, he was unsuccessful. Leopold then devised another unsuccessful plan to establish the Philippines as an independent state, which could then be ruled by a Belgian. When both of these plans failed, Leopold shifted his aspirations of colonisation to Africa. Ocampo, Ambeth (2009). Looking Back. Mandaluyong, Philippines: Anvil Publishing. pp. 54–57.

Context:

King Leopold II was responsible for the rapid depopulation, abuses and mutilations (punishment such as cutting of the hands and feet) across the Congo for non-met quota on rubber productions.

Exploitation, atrocities, and death toll

Abuses, especially in the collection of rubber, included forced labour of the Indigenous population, beatings, widespread killings, and frequent mutilation when production quotas were not met. One practice used to force workers to collect rubber included taking wives and family members hostage.

Just recently, my mother in law passed away due to breast cancer. Everything was rough but my wife is little by little moving on.

Now we just had a talk about our future, although she didn't outright tell me that it is so, she implied that it might be rough for our future children if both of us have histories of cancer in our lineage.

My question is, is it unfair for our would be children to bring them in this world knowing that they might have a higher than average chance of getting cancer?

Thank you.

Edit: in addition, my aunt (grandma's daughter) died due to ovarian cancer
