Dont shop at vons/alberstons/kroger people

or whatever other stores require you to pay with a QR code scan.

the QR codes barley work and you need to sit there for 10-20 minutes explaining the the useless support that the QR code wont work and wait for them to let you use your card

Context:

Instacart has a shopping quality metric for us that says it "increases" our quality for every original item we find, every item we replace, or every customer requested refund, and lowers our score for every damaged or missing item, or any unrequested refunds.

The problem is that description is a horrendous BS lie.

The real way it goes up an down is comparing our ratio of original items found to every other metric, and taking the % of original items found and comparing it to all other shoppers in a local area.

so for example if shopper A: shopped 100 items and shopper B shopped 100 items, but shopper A replaced 10 items that weren't in stock, and shopper B didn't then shopper B has a better shopping quality, and shopper A's shopping quality goes down WHICH HURTS US.

So why am I asking you customers to stop making changes on your end/ what should you do?

well its simple: Say you have an item you are chatting with us about, and its out of stock BUT a replacement is available if you SEPARATELY ADD THAT ITEM we now have to refund the original item which is a negative mark against us, regardless of the fact that you added an item (Instacart would prefer zero refunds whatsoever). If you simply let us go through the app on our end, and make a replacement on that item, it still hurts us, but its a lot better than refunding an item.

Additionally: PLEASE stop adding items into your order that you ARE NOT WILLING TO PAY FOR OR WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND ABOUT. For the same reason, if you add an item then say "oops sorry I added it by mistake, or I changed my mind can you refund that?" IT NEGATIVELY IMPACTS US.

For different items: if you can not find an item in the app, DO NOT ADD A DIFFERENT ITEM with a note saying you prefer a different flavor/item instead if its available, MESSAGE US and ask us to add it IF ITS THERE. Remember: replacements also hurts us, Instacart wants us to find original items only.

Finally: if we need to refund an item? please manually approve every single one.

some general common courtesy notes:

if you order certain things like cakes, muffins, etc in those cheap plastic bins with the icing barley being below the top? DO NOT be an A-hole and report it damaged when the icing slightly smears; In other words know what product youre ordering and what naturally can happen to it because of poor product packaging.

DONT BE GREEDY: I get it things are expensive, but do not be greedy and order an expensive item then try and claim its damaged. You might think youre hurting a corporation like amazon or whatever, youre not, instacart just blames us for it.
