I had a prepaid "CallYa" SIM card with Freenet for years. One day the payment function just stopped working. I called customer service, I visted three different shops. They all told me they couldn't help and I should switch to a two year contract. I didn't want that so I sent them a cancelation request and changed providers. Five months later I received a Mahnung letter for 60 eur for unpaid dues. It turns out that even though, my "Guthaben couldn't be loaded" and I never paid them and I also formally cancelled even though it was a prepaid plan, they still gave me "Guthaben" because I had authorized the Lastschrift.... even though I never received data or service. So what is their deal? That seems like a horribly scammy legal loophole.

Is there anything that can be done?

On the phone they even claimed that I could still be charged after their confirmed cancellation date because I didn't cancel the Lastschrift also (even though no money ever got transferred!!!!)

I can't make out the word between stultos and pello in this motto on this engraving. None of the obvious words I can think of fit. Can any of you read it?

Sum dux lux Rect[e?] vi[e?] / Stultos [?] pello / doctos yn me provo / Veritas Sum

The source is the frontisepiece of José García Hidalgo’s Principios para estudiar el nobilisimo y real arte de la pintura if anyone is interested.

I‘m wondering if there is a reason that 2nd person suffixes in the present progressive tense have an s that doesn’t appear in the simple present or past tense. For example gidiyorsun and gidiyorsunuz versus gittin and gittiniz.

I am an art history student working on a drawing of antique statues with inscriptions in Italian. I am wondering if there is a difference between di and da in the drawing. Sorry for the stupid censoring of the drawing, it was getting auto-deleted. One says "Diana dal vivo" while the other says "Iupiter del vivo". For context these are 17th-Century drawings of statues from antiquity. It likely "del vivo" likely refers to the size of the statue "lifesize". One can see "mezo vivo" on the left side, so probably "half of life size". But would there be a relevant difference between del vivo and dal vivo?
