Omg sorry there are so many :,) do the red seals tell anything about the piece? Like an artist?
So basically I was going to buy a Chinese scroll (Qing dynasty ancestor scrolls) you can search them up, and many fine framed ones sell for the $1,000-$2,000 range at auction.
I was supposed to meet the seller tomorrow but I got a message today from them saying that they had dropped the frame and broke the frame, tearing the scroll. (This can be restored as I’m very experience restoring antiques). But rather than telling me they broke it and asking if I still wanted it, they said, sorry we threw it away. I tried to have them get it back but they said garbage pickup has already come by.
I’m pissed 1. They never asked me if I still wanted to buy it broken for a reduced price 2. It’s a loss of cultural and historical art and history, the scroll likely dated to 1825-1850 so before the civil war even began. 3. They are worth so much monetarily in addition to historically. I was not planing to sell it as I collect and love antiques. 4. There’s a personal touch to these as once upon a time, that was a real person.
Should I even bother rating this seller? I’m tempted to give them 1 star for being rather irresponsible and not communicative. I’m really upset as a lover of antiques
:( another cultural and historical relic from 200 years ago in the landfill.
