Hi guys,

Got an LMLM this weekend and began setting it up today.
Been making espresso at home for decades- using the 'industry standard' 18g baskets. 18g in, ~36g espresso out.

Just realized the LMLM has a 17 or 21 gram basket.
Are you guys using 17g basket with 17 grams of coffee and adjusting your output, or are you overpacking 18g into the 17g basket (I tried and it tends to spill out when in the grinder).

Using the 21g basket with only 18g in will probably give me soggy pucks.
What are you guys doing for a 'standard' espresso shot?

Cheers

Hi guys,

I’ve been out of the home espresso game for a few years, and getting back into it. Just dusted off my Decent DE1XL and Bianca V3.

Been doing a lot of research- but really wanted to up my grinder game and get feedback from people that have actually used/owned various high-end grinders. I just took out my Niche Zero which is in good shape, and my Eureka Mignon Specialita (which is busted).

I am looking to purchase two grinders- one dedicated to medium/dark roasts, and one dedicated to light roasts. I would prefer the dark/medium roast grinder to have a hopper and grind-by-weight as this would be the most heavily used one in the house. No budget scenario, anything goes- what is the best?

-----------------

TL/DR:

  • Best grinder for Medium/Dark roasts? Get that nice full body and creama. Needs to have a hopper and grind-by-weight. Conical burrs?
  • Best grinder for Light roasts? Can be single dose. Flat burrs?
