Was interested in someone and they hit me with that line. And was like so jazzed saying “omg I’ve always wanted to be with a black girl” as if I was some exotic thing they have always wanted to try. I know that it seems like a compliment, but it really just continues the cycle of exoticism and ignorance…. I responded by saying that it was a problematic thing to say, and not a good compliment. They of course defended by saying “no no I’m not racist! I don’t see color!” Am I being over dramatic?

Pacific Northwest (Washington/ Olympic peninsula) saw this striking lil pal and so curious what they are! That red is so gorgeous! Probably half the size of a penny.
