35 [F4R] Online/Anywhere — Do you like words? Could your epitaph reasonably be "he was fun at parties /s"? Come blunder through learning a new language with me!

Whoa, now, don't all come beating at my door at once. I know an opportunity like this is everyone's idea of fun!

What with the world being on fire, I think it's important to have an interest in the world and in people. I'm not trying to be an uneducated, insular twit. I'm as white as a person can be without being captured to make brand new paint swatches, so I think it's especially important in my case.

I was thinking I'd like to learn a language. Both for the above reason and because my inner child likes the idea of having a conversation with someone without people around immediately knowing what is being said. Unfortunately, I'm not Tolkien and I can't make things up, so, real language it is.

What language? I don't know, I was hoping someone here would have one in mind they want to work on.

Does it really help the world if no one around you speaks the language you're learning? Probably not, but I'm a terrible introvert, so I figure anything counts.

I work from home, so I was thinking of subscribing to an app that can be done by listening and repeating (Pimsleur). If I do that, there are free slots to add people to the app.

I can share them IF you actually do want to learn. Ideally, I think it would be fun to do one of the lessons a day on weekdays, so that we can learn at the same pace and practice together along the way. I also have study materials in PDF form that I'm happy to share if you want to be extra.

Bonus points if you want to also buddy system a lesson a day with Duolingo but that isn't required.

If you are interested, and I mean REALLY interested, let me know what language you have an eye on and I'll see if it's there. The only one I probably can't keep pace with you on from the jump is Japanese because I already have a lower intermediate level of that. Otherwise I would be game to pretty much anything. It's all fun to me. (I was thinking Italian sounds pretty, but I'll go for anything really.)

Please don't ask to learn with me if you won't actually do the lessons or have interest in languages. I genuinely want to learn, so I'm hoping to find someone who feels the same way.

And, yes, I DO want to connect with you beyond this, but also, you know, this! I'm a normal, boring, drab woman who likes games and books and animals. Often do well at Cards Against Humanity. Prefer storms to sun. Enjoy naps too much. Etc. Etc. Etc.

One last note: please don't use AI to write to me. I already got fooled once because I was naive. If you want to talk with personality, then please just make the effort to do so. I will not answer AI messages. Thank you.
