To those who go through petco/petsmart dumpsters- what do you do when you find multiple live animals?

Sorry if this isn’t allowed here but, what do you do in this situation? I was wanting to go and see if they have any “broken” toys thrown out that I could still use but I’ve heard so many stories of finding live animals around there that I’m too scared to go do it because I’d feel horrible if I found something I wasn’t able to save

Can I keep a rat in my reptile room?

Off to a great start, the title sounds horrible. The room I keep most of my tropical pets in tends to stay warm, 75-80°f+ year round. It’s typically 75 in winter and 80 during summer, it has gotten up to 85 before because of heat waves but that doesn’t happen often
Could I keep one in there or would it be too hot?
I don’t keep any animals that eat rats, the room is totally safe other than the heat concern.

What should I do?

I was going to make an 80 gallon for my crabs by stacking two 40 gallons but for some reason the 40 gallon I got was smaller than it should have been.
It’s still around 40 gallons but the base tank is (just barely) too short and doesn’t line up. I don’t really have the money atm to get a second 40 gallon base, + if she molts soon then I’d have to wait a month on top of that
Should I
A- wait a bit and purchase a different 40 gallon
B- completely decorate the 40 I have now and keep it like that, then use the 40 with doors for a different pet I’ve been wanting
C- attempt to modify the base tank to make it fit

**the reasoning for a different pet instead of the tank option is because a different pet would be significantly cheaper. I already have spare things sitting around for it. the tank would be $100 minimum & that’s if I could find one used. I’ve been looking around and haven’t seen any listed.

Teach me how to properly care for a fish tank

I’m making this post to get information/tips/recommendations from people who have experience. I’ll be researching everything on my own as well as posting this. Going to be a 10 gallon (freshwater). When I say fish I’m thinking either a betta, something smaller, or no fish at all. Possibly shrimp snails etc instead

Wanting to know-
How cycling the tank works
Best fish to keep in a 10 gallon
Water changes
Do regular lights (led) work instead of grow lights?
Best beginner friendly but cool plants
Fertilizer for the plants if that’s needed?
recommendations for filter, light, substrate, etc

And I’ve heard something about using a filter from a cycled tank to set up your own quickly? Would that work if I snagged a filter from a friend’s already established tank?

Can people with PKU have monster energy?

I know it sounds stupid but I’m a huge monster drinker and my brother has been wanting to taste test all of them. (Not any of the zero sugar) I tried to look it up and got no answers. Tried looking myself but I’m not confident in my ‘maybe’. Couldn’t post on the other sub so hoping at least one person here knows 😩

Struggling to find a job (as many are) looking for options?

Applied to plenty of stores (Walmart, target), and was rejected as they have too many people. or I was just.. never answered?
I’m currently dog sitting for people as a way to make a small amount of money & have a place to stay. I don’t mind all the “complicated” things like carrying injured dogs to potty, feeding special dishes/picky animals, giving medications, etc and owners seem thrilled to finally find someone who cares and can do it right. So I’ve got that going at least, but $150 a week isn’t really doing much seeing as it isn’t a guaranteed job and most is going to gas.
I’ve tried calling a few barns around me, nothing. All spots filled or I need more experience. Which is sucky because these places aren’t really counting experience unless it’s through a school or real job. previously owning a horse and other farm animals has done nothing to help. I’ve got no one to vouch for it besides a lady I used to ride with, who apparently is now known for ruining horses, yay!
I don’t have the money for schooling and I’ve heard of so so many people getting rejected even with an education.
Looked into dog grooming because I bathe clip and care for my own dogs but so many dogs who are sent in are neglected or reactive and I’m positive id get burnt out so fast with that.
Could try to apply to shelters but they are all a good distance from me and the pay is low. Same with vet assistants.
I was looking into DoorDash at some point but with gas prices I’d probably be PAYING to do that.
Are there any other options?? I’d prefer pets over people if possible but it’s not looking good 🥲

Not really looking to maintain an aquatic tank but I’d still be open to suggestions in that area. Want a land creature mostly. I’m not looking for something that would outgrow the tank- I’m thinking bugs mostly? Maybe REALLY small lizards, possibly frogs if there are breeds small enough. I’m a bit disappointed that my stink bug would probably drown if I put a small pool of water in, so she gets her own tank that fits her needs better. Love the look of terrariums so I would 100% be fine with just plants & no pet if it comes to that!
