How hard is it to get private LTD insurance?

Hi everyone, I was hoping you could answer a question for me.

I am currently in the process of applying for private LTD insurance through Royal Bank's professional series. I met with a broker, and was given a really great preliminary quote. I'm a 41 year old male professor, non smoker.

In terms of medical history, I was born with extremely mild hemophelia (never received of needed treatment), experienced one episode of depression when my father passed (in 2018) and had a herniated disc in 2021. Are these preconditions enough to disqualify me from getting insured? (or having exclusions added to the policy).

Hemophelia I can understand is a red flag, but the other issues occurred at least 5 years ago and didn't require treatment.

Many thanks for any input you can provide.

Question regarding pre-existing condition and Private LTD insurance

Hi everyone, I was hoping you could answer a question for me.

I am currently in the process of applying for private LTD insurance through Royal Bank's professional series. I met with a broker, and was given a really great preliminary quote. I'm a 41 year old male professor, non smoker.

We have now moved on to health verification, and I was wondering how a past medical condition would impact coverage/rates. I was born with extremely mild hemophelia - I have never received care or treatment for it, but I'm concerned that simply having it would disqualify me from coverage. The second concern I have is regarding past anxiety/depression - I have received treatment twice (2008 and 2018), both of which were tied to life events and resolved.

Are these two things likely to be treated as pre-existing conditions and disqualify me from coverage? I don't mind paying a higher premium, but it would really suck if I couldn't get any coverage at all.

Appreciate any feedback.
