Better option to protect house during lightning storm?
OPTION 1:
Turn off mains. Essential lights, fan, TV will still run on inverter. If lightning hits electrical post outside the house, or there is excessive current from mains, house wiring and appliances may still be damaged.
OPTION 2:
Dont turn off mains. Insread, disconnect valuable appliances like inverter, TV and fridge to protect them. However, if lightning makes a direct strike, house wiring will get burnt and need to be replaced.
