My child (9) has been in piano for the past 4 years. Every year I’ve invited my parents and in-laws to his end of the year recital, and every year my parents don’t show up. They give no reason, just wait til the eleventh hour and send a text like “sorry we can’t be there today. I know (child) will do awesome! Send us videos and pics!”

It’s broken my heart to feel like my parents aren’t showing up for me and my family, but today my child asked “why do (grandparent names) never come see me play? (In-law grandparent names) always come see me, and they never do.”

And i had no answer for my child. That was really difficult. The hurt i feel makes me want to just never invite them to anything ever again. But I’m not sure if that would be the right thing to do. But more than that, i want to know WHY. My children are their only grandchildren. They feel very content to be grandparents at an arms length. We don’t live in the same town, but we are close enough for easy day trips. Like just an hour or so up the highway.

I want to make it make sense. I want to be angry. I want to be hurt. And i hate to think my kid’s feelings are hurt from the lack of support.

We will be visiting Ft. Walton/Okaloosa Island for vacation this year. Many other beaches we’ve been to have a nice little downtown area with local shops and ice cream parlors to browse, walk around. Wondering if Ft Walton does too?

I’ve googled but my searches are inconclusive. Any help would be appreciated!!

Anyone else encourage themselves with small rewards for exercising?

I started last month with giving myself a sticker (very preschool teacher of me 😂) whenever i exercised, and honestly, that stupid little sticker has been a great motivator. My March looked very similar to how my April is shaping up!

What do you reward yourself with for a job well done? Are you visual like i am? Please share!
