If you could go back in time, what would you tell yourself?

If you could go back to your teenage years or early twenties, would you change anything? I think it’s really powerful to listen o what others would have done different. Even though we’re all different people, we can take lessons from others’ experiences.

Do you feel emotionally safe?

For all those who are married, do you feel emotionally safe with your partner. Like can you just open up to them about anything without any negative feelings associated with it. I’ve started to not like the idea of marriage for this very reason.

My entire life every time I opened up about something, it was somehow flipped to be negative. It was always you have problems with others for no reason, or my feelings were minimized. I don’t even think I’m a sensitive person but this made me genuinely never open up to people. Like I don’t speak to anyone around me about anything I’m feeling except my sister. This is because I know she’d never use it against me and would always be there for me.

I’m scared that with marriage it would be the same thing where I’d just be scared to open up about anything due to fear of it being used against me later on. I would want to be able to speak to my husband about anything and be heard and understood. How do you guys deal with this?

For some context, I’m 20F and most of my cousins are married and older than me. The way they speak about marriage kind of scares me tbh. They tell me that if I keep having these requirements in men it’ll be harder for me to get married. None of these requirements are crazy to me tbh. I just wouldn’t want to compromise when it comes to deen and character. Also, I wouldn’t want to speak to someone who’s been in a haram relationship before and has close relationships with women who aren’t in his family. Is that crazy because I genuinely don’t think it is? Tbh I think it’s bare minimum
