Backstory:
Okay so I'm currently a junior in high-school, and at the end of my sophomore year there was this guy in my class who I though was cute, but for my sophomore year I secretly liked his friend. To be honest most his friends are cute and have this mysterious, yet awkward charm I'm attracted to. His friend was a senior so I didn't ask him out, and instead asked his other friend for his because I was trying to hang with someone that summer.
That was a mistake! I took forever to text and we barley got into a conversation! I should've asked my now crush because at the end of my sophomore year he kept staring at me, and at the beginning of this year he did the same! I didn't ask him because thought he was a senior, at least that what he said when I asked.
Fast forward to this year valentines day. (2026) I dress up in red and pink and then gear up to ask him at the end of the day in school, even telling my friend about my plan. They have the same last hour so I sit with her there, but he only comes in for a second to put his stuff down and decides to head to the gym room to play basketball ball with his friends. He was acting nervous and looking at me so I was pretty confident in asking him.
When school gets out and I'm packing my stuff I notice he still has his bag in the class but is taking forever, so I tell his friend to tell him to g-chat me if he wants to go out. (Gmail message, it's a thing our school has to text.)
I never find out the freaking answer! And I regret not asking him myself, because i would've moved on, even if hurt. That same day he was talking to a freshman girl on the bus. I don't know if they liked each other. I'm asummkng no because I don't see them interact after. Then it did upset me though.
Fast forward and I'm taking credit recovery for my permit class/drivers ed, he sits down next to me and I ask a stupid question becasue I got so nervous. But he says see you later becasue he takes the driving class not the permit part and the teacher call for him to go. The next day our advisory class is mainly empty becasue a filed trip and he mentions me in a joking way.
After that we never spoke becasue the driving classes are certin days and I have permit class three days straight. We looked at each in passing but recently I saw him walk with a girl so maybe he has a girl. I try sitting close to him and his friends at lunch, but it's kinda embarrassing becasue I think they know.
He hasn't shown interest since a while back so I lowkey gave up, and think he has a girl even if they aren't seen together.
I wanna ask him out personally. I would just say "I wanted to go out and don't know if his friend told him." I would feel embarrassed if it's a no but I need to get him off my mind for good and this is how! So should I ask, or no, I lowkey need advice. And for anyone wondering I'm kinda shy around different people, I think he is probably more outgoing.
