cheap recommendations for a starving musician

my little brother just graduated with an MFA in music performance (yay!) and he and his girlfriend are coming to visit me in Chicago. He is balling on a gig musician’s budget. Any recommendations for cheap ($20-30/person, cheaper options accepted) dinner and lunch spots (with live music??? Jazz??? as a bonus) for a couple of mid-late-twenties?

we’re north side but willing to travel a bit. He wants to see some jazz music in general so I’m sure we’ll end up on the south side at some point. He’s also visited here before, so he’s had the chicago dogs and the deep dish—not a big fan lol. Some cheap variety is appreciated. He also doesnt drink much, so hopefully that will help with the budget.

TIA!

Employment Recertification monthly?

Hi, I’ve notice that my last three payments (March, April, May) didn’t count because I don’t have an employment recertification. However, I have TWO recertification forms that have been processed for February, certifying my certified employer as a current employer.

When calling student aid, they said “they dont know if I still worked there those three months because i couldve lost my job, gone on maternity leave, etc.”

My questions are this: Does anyone else have this problem? Do I need to certify my employment monthly now?? Or certify my employer in February 2027 as they suggested and just trust they will recertify all my payments??

Hello, all,

I have struggled to find an answer online, so I thought I would ask here.

I have recently gotten several pieces of Hey Harper Jewelry (intended for lobe piercings). One of these pieces is essentially a clicker, and I was wondering if it would be safe/advisable to use for a nose piercing or cartilage piercing (based on website photos, I think cartilage is fine, but there is not a clear answer).

Piercing details:

My nose piercing is fully healed and 10 years old. My cartilage piercings are fully healed and 8 years old.

The jewelry materials from the website:

“Our pieces are crafted from resilient stainless steel and fortified by a 10x stronger coating process named PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) to make our jewelry your lifetime companion. Our pieces endure sweat, showers, and beach days without losing its color.

What is the 10x stronger coating process?

It is the Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), one of the most modern coating process which ensures that the color lasts longer. PVD is more than a bath of gold, PVD uses physical reactions to change the liquid source material to gold. Compared to gold or silver plating, PVD is a vastly different coating procedure. There is no way to avoid the color fading on plated jewelry, it will happen sooner or later but with our coating process you don't have that worry.”

Would these be safe to use in the locations I mentioned? Thanks.
