360 Console Addiction - How Do I Stop?

I just picked up the Star Wars special edition in box.
Been looking for that one for a reasonable price for a while.

I wasn't able to include my black and white consoles in this image.
My son took the white one and my daughter has the onyx black one.
Perhaps I'll snag another one of each just so I have them next to the others?

These things are beautiful.
Props to Microsoft for making some awesome console designs.

2DS No Charge to Battery; Works Fine Otherwise

I have a 2DS that is not wanting to send voltage to the battery when charging. Here are some things I've noted:

  • 5.4 volts is present on the back of the charging port.
  • 5.4 volts is present on both sides of Fuse 1.

When I go to check Fuse 2; there is no power present on either side.
Switching to continuity mode; I do have continuity through Fuse 2 (my meter beeps steadily).

So power is not making it's way to Fuse 2.
The only thing in the middle (that I see) is the little area to the top-left of the cartridge slot.
I'm guessing this is the integrated charging controller; however, I do not know how to test this particular chip.

I am attaching a photo.
The red circles are where I am sensing 5.4 volts.
The one blue circle is measuring 3.3 volts.

Some final datapoints:

  • The charge light turns solid orange when plugged into a charger.
  • The power light stays a constant red while plugged into a charger.
  • If I unplug the charger; the power light switches from solid red to a flashing red.
  • If I use a new battery (full charge); the power light turns blue.

I'm looking for any advice on how to progress?
Which specific points to measure and their expected ranges?
How am I not getting any power to the Fuse 2 location when Fuse 1 is good?

Thanks so much and Happy Monday!

2DS No Battery Charge But Fuses OK

I have a Nintendo 2DS I have resurrected from the dead. The last issue I am facing is a battery charging issue. Here are some notes:

  1. With a fresh battery; the system turns on and plays fine.
  2. With any battery; the system will show an orange light when the charger is connected.
  3. With a drained battery; the system will show an orange light when the charger is connected; but once removed.. the power light starts flashing red.

I have disassembled the console and used my meter to test for voltages.

  1. I have 5.4 volts at the charger connector.
  2. I have 5.4 volts on both sides of the F1 fuse.
  3. Just to the left of the cartridge slot; I have 5.4 volts on one of the caps and 3.3 volts on a different cap. So I am assuming power is making it to that point.

Now.. when I go to probe fuse F2.. I do not have any power on either side. When switching to continuity on my meter; I get a good reading and the meter beeps.. so I know the fuse is not blown.

What I cannot figure out.. is "why" the fuse (F2) is not receiving any voltage in the first place. Where would I go next to trace the power line? When I flip the board over; there are no traces or components to test.. I'm guessing the traces are a few layers down in the board.

The attached image denotes (top left near charging port).. the red circles are 5.4 volts.. and the 1 blue circle is 3.3 volts.
