Is the DC to Woodlawn commute manageable?
For anyone who makes the daily commute for work, whats it like? Do you drive or take public transportation? Is it worth it?

I accepted my first TJO but I’m still interested in another agency. If I start with the first agency and later receive an offer from the second, how does time in grade affect the move?
‘98 here and haven’t really dipped my toe into the scene yet.

Is “job abandonment” generally treated as a voluntary resignation or as a termination? Secret level clearance.
During college I used to work retail and I told my manager at the time I was moving out of my town but wanted to work at the location closer to my new college. She said she’d pull some strings. She knew I had to leave since I told her and still no word. I speak to the manager at the other location and she said she’d get back to me but nothing. Things picked up at college and honestly, I just never contacted them and they never contacted me. Definitely on me for not closing the loop and giving any formal notice.
Just called HR of the original location and they said they classified it as job abandonment and it’s considered voluntary. I know companies sometimes classify it differently internally, so I’m trying to understand how investigators/adjudicators typically view it and whether it’s something that should be disclosed as a termination.
Endlessly applying to jobs, getting a check just for a large chunk of it to go to bills, work home work home. Being responsible for people. The occasional hang out here and there.
I do solo activities. I like exploring new places and being out in nature but I find that alone is not enough to shake this feeling I have or lack thereof. I feel like having more money will solve a lot of my problems but I also don’t like the feeling of chasing the money either. Especially in this job market where it’s already tough enough to land even a bad paying job. Welcome to the rat race I guess. Is it financially responsible to pivot to a different field knowing it’ll make you more money but is not your passion? Do you need to be passionate about your work or does your work fund your passion?
I’m still getting what I need to get done and taking care of all my responsibilities but I feel like I lost my spark somewhere along the way. How’s everyone else feeling these days?
Hello! I’ll be moving to the Norfolk/Portsmouth area this summer and looking for a short-term sublet while I get a feel for the area prior to signing a longer lease.
I’ll be working at the Naval Medical Center and have a car, so I don’t mind up to a ~30 minute commute.
Any recs for good areas to live or active Facebook groups/resources for sublets or apartment buildings would be really appreciated!! Budget is ~$2k.
Feel free to comment or send a dm. TIA :)
