I've got a lower that I want to SBR if the rule change about engraving goes through. Already know how to do the Form 1 filing and have my own EFT, done it a few times now and don't want to pay SS $50 to file it for me.

Can I buy a SST for this lower, then file the trust myself?

Can I assume that the same would apply for transfering an existing NFA item that is registered to me as an individual? Buy the SST for the item, then file paperwork to it transfer into the trust?

I've got some items in a family gun trust. There are several named trustees and the way it's written, I'd have to round everyone and find a place to get the EFT fingerprints done. The last time it was used to file was before every responsible person was required to provide those (early days of eforms) and a trustee has since passed so it would need revised anyway. The few items done since then were done as an individual. The glamour shots are easy enough, there are apps for that. I know that it's possible to DIY the EFT at home, but that's not something I really want to tackle.

I'm liking the simplicity of the SST to file, then add more responsible persons as needed. I'm getting ready to buy a silencer from them and was already planing to do the SST for it.

I see that trip sleds are now offered on the site, they weren't there when I was looking earlier in the week. I don't even own an FR (yet) but that's awesome! Are they just an accessory item or will they be included with purchase? I would assume just an accessory.

I've also seen posts saying that Hydraulic Buffers are coming and will be backwards compatable with current roller delayed uppers.

Is there an ETA on the buffers? Will those be included on all receivers built after release (including preexisting orders) like the roller delay was, or will they just be offered as an upgrade item?

IMO the Hyd buffers sound like a great upgrade, but also sound like a potential failure point. If they are included, and you buy one with them, are they removable and still function, or will parts be available to revert to non-hyd buffer?

Honestly, not sure if I want to wait for the Hyd buffer to come installed, or buy without and upgrade later. On the one hand I get the best system from the start with the least expense. On the other hand, if I buy without and upgrade, I'll have the original non-buffer parts to revert to.

Want to order a MAT-9, but it doesn't sound like it would ship in time for me to enjoy , much this summer, so no rush on getting that order placed. Probably going to grab a cheap 16" upper from BCA or RTB upper to use in the interim and flip when I get the MAT-9. Just trying to figure out a timeframe for when I might want to place the order.

I will be ordering a Matador Mat-9 in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, consensus seems to be that wait time is counted in months instead of weeks. I don't really want to wait months to start playing with a PCC.

To that end I'm considering picking up a ~$200 16" upper from the likes of RTB or BCA. I can get it in a week or so, have it to play with during the summer. A local gun club will be hosting a few PCC and "Tactical: Pistol/PCC" matches throughout the year. Not looking to be competitive with this setup, just to have fun and get the experience. Figure when I get the SBR setup, I can flip this upper, or just keep it to have both a long and short setup.

Does that make sense? Don't want to spend much on this upper since it's mostly to get me buy until what I want arrives. I'd rather just wait for the MAT-9 than buy something more expensive to use for now.

If I get one of those, I'm going to need to get a buffer to run with it. Basically all of my lowers run an A5 length tube. I know setups for a standard carbine tube can be run with a 3/4" spacer in the tube, but I want to stick to the budget and still have a decent shooting rifle. I've seen the "A5 GRS" (Gentle Recoil System?) buffer setups, more than I'd liek to spend. I've seen the Foxtrot Mike Recoil Mitigation Buffer mentioned around and I'm liking the price on it.

I want to verify that the FM RMB can be run in an A5 buffer tube with a standard carbine spring?

I've got the tube. Pretty sure I've got a carbine spring, if not they are cheap. The RMB is only about $60. If I'm understanding right, seem like the way to go for now. If I end up keeping the rifle upper around after getting the SBR I can upgrade as I go.

TL;DR:

Before pulling the trigger on a MAT9 and waiting, I'm curious what similar upper only options are out there?

Preferibly bufferless, roller delay, side charging, 8" barrel option (+/- 1"), compatable with standard AR lower and endo/exomags. The closer to $500 the better.

--------------

Since my previous idea (Canik TP9 compatable PCC/lower/adapter) fell through, I've decided I'm going to stick to standard AR lowers with endomags or exomags. Exomags preferred, but I'm not abject to endomag conversions if I get them cheap (aka good sale) since I have several unopened P-Mags. I've already got several AR lowers, including a couple of pistols and SBRs, so I like the idea of dropping the upper on one and not having to fool with additional adapters. Was initially planning to build out my own upper from parts, but looking at prices, right now I'd be hard pressed to build for less than I can buy a pretty nice upper with better features.

To that end I'm also liking bufferless. I know they've still got a buffer but being self contained within the upper receiver, I don't have to worry around with adjusting and swapping out buffer assemblies between lowers. I can also drop it on the dedicated 22lr lowers that don't use buffers, one of which is soon to get a 1913 folding stock setup.

Anyhow I'm leaning towards the Matador MAT9 8" roller delayed upper. As mentioned I like the bufferless setup. I like the alleged advantages that roller delay seems to offer. I like the non-recip side charging handle. I like that they are constantly innovating (seer trip and hydraulic buffers in work) and trying to make those innovations backwards compatable where possible/feasible. Honestly I really like the price compared to a lot of what I've seen. Only thing I'm not liking is the wait. It's advertised as 4-6 weeks on the site, but in reading it seems more like months.

Looking to make a decision in about the next two weeks, AKA next paycheck.

Will the handguard rail extension mount to the 8" version of these? I see the 5 inch version mentioned, and it looks like they come as part of the 916 uppers. I see no mention of the 8 inch.

Looking to get an ~8" barrel bufferless 9mm upper to run on my existing SBRed AR lowers. I even picked up a couple of Exomags when I spotted them in the clearance bin at LGS the other day. From browsing and reviews, sounds like the Mat9 is the way I want to go, even if it is a bit of a wait.

Unfortunately, it sounds like if I ordered today I wouldn't have in time for a local PCC match at the end of next month. I suppose I'll have to resort to 22lr if I want to join that one. Just maybe it would arrive before the one in August.

Mostly interested in the extension to cover a suppressor when I get one for 9mm. Not necessary, but I do like the looks of them being at least partially covered by the handguard.
