Using Syringe Day 3

Hi everyone!

I got my bottom 2 wisdom teeth removed yesterday. So far I’m doing okay, just really tight and uncomfortable and not much of an appetite, although I’m forcing small amounts of food with my medicine.

Tomorrow is day 3 for me (day 1 being extraction day) and my oral surgeon’s directions said to start using the syringe on day 3 to clean out sockets with either the chlorhexidine or salt water.

I’m a little nervous to use the syringe quite this early though as I can’t really open my mouth wide to see the extraction sites, and I think I’d be more comfortable gently moving the mouthwash or salt water around rather than use the syringe.

My question is, did anyone have directions to use the syringe this early? If so, did anyone wait to use it and just do a simple rinse without the syringe?

Thank you!

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Hi!

I’m scheduled to have my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow and I’m terrified.

I’m 33 and waited because unfortunately I was never able to financially afford the removal, and I’ve heard so many things about how much more difficult it can be when you’re older.

I also have pretty severe medical anxiety due to my history of breast cancer. I’ve had multiple surgeries including a tonsillectomy, gallbladder removal, insertion and removal of my port, and lumpectomy, but I’m still terrified.

I’m most scared I won’t be able to handle the recovery and will be so incredibly uncomfortable.

I could use any and all the words of encouragement!

Hi everyone!

I’m a 33 y/o female who waited to have my wisdom teeth removed and now, one of my back wisdom teeth has cracked due to decay, left a hole, and now needs removed likely fairly soon. I’m really scared and it’s consuming my thoughts.

I’ve had several procedures including a tonsillectomy, my gallbladder out, getting and removing a port for cancer treatment, and a lumpectomy, but have a lot of anxiety that is worse because of having had cancer.

I’m most nervous that I might get sick after surgery, that I’ll have an adrenal crisis related to my adrenal insufficiency, that I won’t be able to handle the pain, or that I’ll get dry sockets. A lot of my fear stems from worry that I won’t be able to handle pain.

I’d love to hear any kind words or positive experiences anyone can offer me!

Hi everyone!

I have secondary adrenal insufficiency caused by cancer treatment.

This week, I had one of my wisdom teeth chip and after going to the dentist, it looks like I need them out within the next week or 2.

The dentist was surprisingly knowledgeable about this diagnosis and even did extra research, and made sure to include the information in my referral to the oral surgeon.

I know I’ll at least need to updose, but I’m really anxious. For reference, when I had my lumpectomy, I didn’t need steroids in my IV and was just able to stress dose for several days and was okay.

I’ll meet with the oral surgeon next week, but can anyone share with me positive experiences or tips? I’m super nervous and have a lot of medical PTSD from having cancer so could really use supoort.

Thank you!

Hi everyone!

I’m wondering if anyone can share their experience.

I’m having to get my wisdom teeth out and I’m very nervous.

One of my bottom wisdom teeth cracked, leaving me with a hole and exposed cavity. When I saw the dentist today, he said he really thinks I need them out sooner rather than later because of the risk that it will start hurting.

The issue is, I have a bucket list trip planned in June to go hiking and camping in the Northeast, specifically in Acadia National Park, and am worried about timing. I’m worried if I get them out before, I won’t have time to heal and recover, but if I wait until after, I’m risking a big possibility of pain during my trip.

I do have a consult with an oral surgeon next week.

Has anyone had experience with a cracked wisdom tooth that was able to wait a few months to get extracted? Or can anyone share with me their recovery timeline when they did get their teeth extracted? I’m in my early 30s and 2 of my 4 wisdom teeth are impacted.

Thank you!

Hi everyone!

A few days ago, my back bottom left wisdom tooth chipped. There’s now a small hole where that piece was, but it’s covered by a gum flap (see photo).

I have a dentist appointment in 2 weeks to check it, but because of my schedule, I likely can’t get the tooth removed until August.

Has anyone had something similar happen and they waited a few months for extraction? If so, can you tell me what the waiting was like and if all was okay for you during that waiting period.

Thanks!
