Hey, not sure if this is normal or if something’s wrong with my laptop.

Basically whenever I unplug or plug in my charger while using it, or when the laptop wakes up from sleep, the CPU usage suddenly shoots up and everything starts lagging for a bit.

Like:

  • system feels super slow
  • apps stutter
  • even simple things like opening stuff takes a second

It only lasts maybe a few seconds to a minute, then it goes back to normal like nothing happened.

I checked task manager and CPU usage spikes pretty high during that time, but I’m not even running anything heavy.

Temps seem fine too, so I don’t think it’s thermal throttling.

I’m using a Ryzen 5 7520U with Radeon 650M.

Not sure if this is:

  • Windows doing something in the background
  • AMD driver/power management thing
  • or just normal behavior??

It’s kinda annoying though because it happens every time I unplug/plug or wake it up.

Has anyone else faced this or knows what might be causing it?

Any help would be appreciated 🙏
