I feel like this needs to be said.

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of posts from newcomers who are feeling discouraged, even depressed about the current job market. And honestly, I get why. If you scroll through Reddit, it can look like everything is completely doomed.

But that’s not the full picture.

Yes, landing your first job is tough. No sugarcoating that. It takes time, effort and a lot of rejection. But that doesn’t mean the market is “dead” or that there are no opportunities.

The reality is, a lot of people in Nepal’s IT industry are doing pretty well. They’re growing, switching jobs, and building solid careers. The catch? Most of them aren’t posting about it on Reddit.

What you usually see here are people sharing their struggles and that’s completely valid but it creates a skewed perspective. When all you see are negative experiences, it’s easy to assume that’s the entire reality.

It’s not.

If you’re just starting out, don’t let Reddit define your outlook. Focus on building your skills, work on projects, keep applying, and stay consistent. It’s hard, but it’s not hopeless.

Keep going.

I’m from Dhangadhi, and honestly, the land prices here feel unnecessarily expensive. It’s almost on par with Bharatpur, which doesn’t really make sense to me.

Dhangadhi doesn’t have great weather, limited job opportunities, and only basic facilities. So sometimes I feel like, if I’m already investing that much money, wouldn’t it make more sense to just buy land in Chitwan and settle there instead?

Tei vayera, I wanted to ask:

Bharatpur maa ramro location maa relatively sasto jagga paauchha ki paaudaina?

What I’m looking for:

  1. Residential area (not flood-prone / not near rivers)
  2. Decent road access

Also, if anyone has experience living there, I’d really appreciate insights on:

  1. Distance to the nearest hospital
  2. Distance to the highway (for public transport)
  3. Distance to the nearest market
  4. Distance to the airport

If you know specific areas in Bharatpur that match these criteria, please drop suggestions 🙏

Would really help me make a better decision.

I’m a software engineer with 4 years of professional experience mostly in US healthcare. Over the years, I’ve acquired the following skills:

Back-end: Java, Python, JavaScript, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Cascading, JUnit, Mockito

Databases & ORMs: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Hibernate (JPA), MyBatis, Apache Torque

Big Data: Hadoop, Elasticsearch, AWS S3, AWS Redshift, AWS EMR

Front-end: HTML, CSS, jQuery, Thymeleaf

Deployment/DevOps: Git, Jenkins, Docker

Familiar with: React, Node.js, RabbitMQ, MongoDB

Is it realistic to land a $3,000/month full-time remote role with this skill set? I’m looking for something long-term and am open to learning new technologies as needed.

I’d really appreciate any guidance or advice.
