I recently rewatched Death Note and I’ve been chasing that same high ever since and was wondering if you guys had any book recommendations. What pulled me in wasn’t the supernatural premise but the cat and mouse between two genius minds and like their mental conflicts and outsmarting with their reasoning laid out in real time so you can actually follow every deduction as it unfolds.

I’m open to any genre as long as the thrill is intellectual.

Something that's not cliche and also dreamy and highly rated. Similar to Before Sunrise or La La Land?

Looking for stories where geniuses outplay each other and the author actually shows the working and like every deduction and counter is laid out so you can follow the logic in real time. Not like sherlock holmes where sherlock solves everything off-screen and you only get the reveal.

Any novels/ mangas are appreciated
