Truth is, everyone knows that women put themselves at risk all the time to go onto dating apps and I symphasize with their struggles and how they put their safety at risk just to meet men! However I find that most people overlook men's safety on online apps because we're supposedly tougher and stronger. Some methods sextortionists use on guys is that they would leak their photos and personal information to close ones unless they pay them money.

My question is, how can men of ANY age be educated and warned to be cautious on online dating sites and avoid falling for any Romance/Sex scammers, no matter how genuine the “girl” might be when texting?

LLS, I chatted with a redditor on DirtyR4R and then we moved to telegram. I unfortunately told them my First and Last Name, Phone Number, and sent them a pic of my face and d*ck pic (Stupid I know!), both pics are on the same bed so they know it's me. They did send a picure of a naked girl, with glasses and tattoos so I KNOW it's not a picture of a minor! They threatened to release the information with threats of ruining my reputation and spreading the pictures and information to my family and the my local city for "sexting a minor". They then started asking for $1000 in bitcoins, I have money and it's not really a big problem as my job pays well enough to cover for this BS, but the threat of my face along with my body being leaked on social media was terrifying. They then got my number via imessage and encrypted the chat! What happened afterwards is I sent them $1000 and that's it, if they ask for more I'm definitely not sending anymore regardless of what happens. Lesson learned, I'll most likely never do any online dating from now on, unless I have a secure way or method of knowing they are a real person! This is the most expensive lesson I have learned and faced, will NEVER do something like this again and also, will be more wary of sextortion or scams on online sites.
