When my baby was about a week and half old he developed a persistent diaper rash on his butt. We tried several ointments and creams and saw his pediatrician where I brought up the frequency of his stools and how they were pretty watery, not seedy, which I thought was still normal for an EBF baby. She suggested cutting out dairy to see if his stools would improve. His bum completely healed with alternating a prescription compounded ointment, Vaseline and triple paste along with switching diaper brands (honest diapers). It's now been 1.5 weeks without dairy and I would almost say his stools are even worse. They alternate between green and yellow. No seeds. And now there has been mucus. Sometimes they are even foamy/bubbly as he is pooping. I didnt expect things to get worse. he's now 4 weeks old.

He hardly ever spits up. maybe once or twice a day only if he doesnt get a burp out and I lay him down. hes gaining weight and growing. he never went below his birth weight at any point. yes he can be fussy when he isnt being held but I feel thats quite normal for a newborn.

Im not sure if I should continue breastfeeding with/without dairy or if I should try formula. I dont even know if he truly does have CMPI.

This is my 3rd EBF baby and never had this issue before. I consumed plenty of dairy while pregnant, probably more than the average person.

Today his diaper rash seems to be returning after starting to use mama bear diapers yesterday. They are supposed to be hypoallergenic and allergy friendly, which makes me think it could be his stools irritating his skin, even though i change him as soon as I know he poops, which is usually quite prompt.

Im sure im rambling but just trying to include all related information! interested to hear from others who have dealt with CMPI.

What baby carrier with H straps do you recommend? Baby is almost 1 month old and I would love to start using it now and in the future. Right now I have a baby Bjorn mini and im not a huge fan of the cross back straps.
