They were cleaning up and left stuff in the hall for people to take, so I took a couple things
Primarily VHS, S-VHS but also MiniDV, Hi8, cassettes, a single CD and one VCD (Chinese the Godfather, for some godforsaken reason), and one Betacam SP tape, I tried putting a banana for scale but it's really hard to convey how fucking enormous this thing is
I dabble in digitisation and analogue video editing, so I'll use these for such projects, or maybe try digitising all of them if I'm feeling exceptionally bored in some two-week period
Managed to save everything except for a few dozen extra VHS tapes from getting thrown out, it's all just mediocre student films anyway, and I should curb my hoarding a bit, but the fact these were all free was kind of sweet
VHS tapes are obviously all from the 90's - mid 00's, earliest date I've seen is 1990 and latest is 2004-06, I'm guessing that's when they switched to DV
Heyyy Reddit. 😃 I work at a tiny little hole in the wall in Copenhagen (Shoutout Viking Molar Vinyl! 😎) and have done so for the past 10 years, soo yeah ... I know a thing or two. 😅
At our store we do things a liiittle differently than you might be used to. 😏 We've banned all digital devices cause the vinylx ⚫ get confused by ones and zeroes 🤖(analogue warmth and real humans only here! ❤️) We also only stock things worth at least €50 so don't come crying to me about prices, or worse, try haggling. 🤷♂️ We're also an artisanal coffee shop and café ☕🥐, if you enter our store you MUST buy something, the cheapest item is a €23 cinnamon roll.
If you break ANY of these rules, we will scream, hit and yell at you.🙃
By the by... the shop's fallen on hard times recently, and we don't know why! 😢 We're one of the only record stores in the city and the only one in our neighbourhood, so consider hiring a Cameo 🎥 from a member of our famous family or supporting us on our emergency GoFundMe to keep us going strong!: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-a-struggling-smalltime-recordshop
So anywayyyy ... 🫠 Ask Me Anything!!!
My iron is a KSGER T12 I inherited from my brother, works great after replacing the tip. I currently solder with Rothenberger Industrial lead-free solder because that's the only solder they sell at Bauhaus, I am too lazy to order leaded
I've done practically nothing so far but I'd say I'm alright at soldering, I am indeed highly underqualified to own the HP oscilloscope but it was very cheap and in the city over so I might as well have bought it, this whole setup is basically just futureproofing in case I figure out how to be good at diagnosis and hopefully don't abandon this hobby
Desk is thrifted, two of the shelves are thrifted, tools are thrifted (aside from Wiha screwdrivers and iFixit kit), the power supply is the most expensive thing here since I actually got that brand new
