Is Waterloo worth it?

Hi all,

I've been lucky enough to receive offers from UBC sciences and Waterloo CS/CFM. I live in the lower mainland near Vancouver, close enough to transit to UBC, but I've been having a hard time deciding which university to go to. UBC seems better to me because of the low cost--especially with no housing or food costs--but everyone's been touting waterloo's insane coop program and how I'll basically be able to make most of my tuition+dorm costs back. However, Waterloo is very expensive for me (I estimate around 150k-200k+) which is something my family and I can't really afford without loans. What are you opinions on what I should do? Is Waterloo really worth it?

Edit* here's how I calculated the Waterloo figure as an out of province Canadian,

5x$18000 ($18k per 1 year of tuition)

5x$20000 ($20k 1 year of dorm+food)

5x$2000 (flights, phone, etc every year)

So in total, somewhere around $200k

Hi all,

I've been lucky enough to receive offers from UBC sciences, UofT SG CS, and Waterloo CS. I live in the lower mainland near Vancouver, close enough to transit to UBC, but I've been having a hard time deciding which university to go to. UBC seems better to me because of the low cost--especially with no housing or food costs--but everyone's been touting Waterloo's insane coop program and how I'll basically be able to make most of my tuition+dorm costs back OR UofT’s great AI research and global reach. However, both Waterloo and UofT are very expensive for me (I estimate around 150k-200k+) which is something my family and I can't really afford without loans. What are you opinions on what I should do? Is Waterloo really worth it?
