1973 IWC Calatrava Style in Solid 18k Gold Case.

First time posting here. Just passing through with my first vintage IWC and first gold watch.

The watch is in an 18k gold case, though I honestly do not have much information on it yet other than that it was made in 1973. Any information or insight about the watch would be greatly appreciated.

IWC has been an aspirational brand for me since I was a kid. Crazy how refined and well-crafted these vintage pieces still feel decades later.

Thank you for taking the time to read. Have a great weekend ahead!

Hi, just sharing my old 256D on a chunky Super Engineer. The bracelet felt a bit mismatched at first, but somehow it ends up working for me.

First post here, and as the title says: what a dial.

I honestly did not expect this kind of dial quality at this price point. In person, it looks like violent wind pushing different currents across a raging sea. Photos really do not do it justice.

For context, this is my first entry-level Seiko. I have owned a vintage Grand Seiko, and I also have a few Swiss pieces from well-known brands, including a Tudor Pelagos 39 and a Rolex Datejust 36. But damn, this watch, especially the dial, really surprised me.

It honestly makes me wonder: if Seiko can do this at this price, why can’t other brands deliver more interesting dials too? A lot of them feel flat and boring in comparison. Of course, that is just my opinion.

Anyway, I am just really happy with this watch. I bought it as a complete set for around USD 180, and I keep finding myself reaching for it more than my more expensive pieces.

I think I may have just entered the Seiko rabbit hole.

Hi! I recently came across this sub and thought I’d share my watch collection. The only piece missing is my ‘26 Cartier Tank Must (red lacquered dial), which is currently in for servicing. Have a great day!
