Fresh out of Watches and Wonders! Tried this on at my local boutique and I wasn’t quite ready to drop $310k HKD on a Saturday - but MAN was it hard to put down.

I own the Ingenieur in blue (in the background) and I’ve worn it daily since getting it. The titanium is noticeably but not significantly lighter. The titanium is not as cool to the touch and doesn’t feel as smooth as steel, but the way it sort of absorbs light is really neat. Whereas steel is kind of silvery, titanium is like a matte gray with a slight sheen.

It wears just a tiny bit too big on my 6.5 inch relatively flat wrist as it’s a 41, but if you have even a slightly larger wrist I’m sure it’ll fit like a charm. This is probably even more noticeable as it’s thicker than the standard Ingenieur.

The standout of course is the Perpetual Calendar. This thing is so beautiful and somehow manages to look just perfect and not too busy on an already excellent dial. The moon phase is the cherry on top. I like this colorway a lot more than the blue variant - there’s just more contrast and readability here.

The watch also has an open caseback so I asked if that affected its antimagnetic qualities - one of my main reasons of choosing the Ingenieur! - and the AD said it did. A shame!

In summary - I love it, it’s beautiful, and I do think it’s “worth” the price, but it’s probably not for me as an existing Ingenieur owner.

P.S. I was offered a trade in service for my Ingenieur or Cartier’s- did IWC ever do that before??? New Richemont initiative or was that always a service?

90'S Ingenieur With Chrono Alarm

I don't wear this watch often but when I do, I always end up staring at it. One of my favorites by design. Very comfortable to wear. Not sure why I don't wear it more often, was thinking about listing it for sale/trade today but the minute I put it on it my mind changes. I love all my mechanical/automatic but there's something nice about just grabbing this from the drawer and throwing it on knowing it's within seconds of accuracy and ready to roll.

I don't see many of these floating around, curious if anyone else here has one.

NWA!

Finally picked up the 41mm Oceana Blue!

Absolutely love what IWC is doing with ceramic.

Anybody have experience trying to fit a 41 big pilot chronograph with a deployant clasp? I’m thinking I’ll have to order an XL strap to make work, but not 100% sure. The deployant and the strap set up on the larger big pilots are one of the reasons I fell in love with IWC and I’d love to make it work on the 41.

Steel Bracelet for IWC Miramar

Have been on the hunt for a quality steel bracelet for my Steel Miramar, I just think it would look so much nicer on the bracelet (which isn’t an option). If anyone has a suggestion for something reasonably priced please let me know. Pretty happy with the one I have on, but the gap in the lugs drives me a little crazy

Vintage IWC

I believe this is a 1958 cal 89 (not positive) but can’t find the reference number. Do these vintage watches even have those? The IWC strap finder tool doesn’t seem to recognize the serial number either.

Mark XX amplitude drop, is this normal? 290° to 230° in an hour

My 2-month-old Mark XX keeps decent time (slow by 3 to 4 seconds/day), but timegrapher readings make me wonder if something is not quite right inside.

Beat error is good and steady (0.0 to 0.4), but amplitude declines quite a bit over time.

Amplitude starts 281–294° shortly after wearing the watch. Then sinks down to 223–231° within 50–60 minutes while sitting untouched (dial up).

The above behavior was seen about 10 hours after fully winding the watch.

Within 5 minutes of fully winding the watch, amplitude is about 220.

Is this normal?

Almost a year and still obsessed

After about 11 months of ownership, i can say that i still cant stop staring at it, and the long power reserve really is nice to have especially when worn in rotation since i almost never have to wind it. The timekeeping is still at Cosc standards.

The only single thing that bothers me is the fact that the date wheel cannot be turned backwards so if you go over the current date then you need to turn the crown like 50 times or so to reach the previous date. But then again, ive only had to set the date about 5-6 times so far because of the 5-day power reserve. The Ingenieur is my favorite watch! Cheers 🍻

1-Month Update: IWC Ingenieur 35mm (My solution for the lack of micro-adjust, timegrapher data, and a wild QC story)

Hey everyone,

I posted an NWA about a month ago [https://www.reddit.com/r/IWCschaffhausen/s/eiry98e2vo] when I picked up this Ingenieur 35mm. Now that the honeymoon phase is settling, I wanted to share a realistic 1-month update.

First off, full disclosure: I actually had a minor heart attack right after getting it. The crown literally popped out. It’s obviously a huge QC miss for a watch in this price bracket. But to give credit where it's due, the IWC boutique/AD was fantastic. They took it in immediately, and handled it under the 8-year warranty with zero friction. It was a bump in the road, but it gave me a lot of faith in their customer service.

Moving on to the fit. I see a lot of people debating between the 35mm and 40mm. If it helps, my wrist is 16.2cm (6.38"), total width is 54mm, but my flat wrist surface is only about 40mm.

I tried the 40mm, but because the first link of the integrated bracelet stays pretty rigid, it totally overhung my 40mm flat surface. The 35mm, however, hugs the wrist perfectly. It seriously wears like a custom-made watch.

My biggest complaint in my first post was the lack of a micro-adjust clasp. Good news: I found a workaround. I went back and bought a single "long link" (9mm) to swap with a "short link" (7.5mm). By mixing and matching that 1.5mm difference, I found the absolute perfect sweet spot for my wrist, even when it swells in the afternoon. It cost me around $115 USD (3600 TWD), but it was 100% worth it for the comfort.

Finally, the movement. I threw the Cal. 47110 on a timegrapher just to see the 6-position data:

• Dial Up: -4.4 s/d | Dial Down: +0.5 s/d

• Crown Up: +5.0 s/d | Crown Down: -4.6 s/d

• Crown Left: +0.2 s/d | Crown Right: -1.6 s/d

So, the max delta is about 9.6 seconds. I know a 40-hour power reserve and a 9.6s delta might not look like the absolute top-tier specs on paper for this price point. Realistically, a big part of what you're paying for is the iconic Genta design, the spectacular finishing, and that incredible 9.4mm thinness that makes it so wearable.

But here is the crazy part: in real life, because of how my wrist moves throughout the day, those positional variances perfectly cancel each other out. My actual on-wrist accuracy over the last month is averaging around +2 second a day. I can't really argue with that. It proves IWC regulated it exceptionally well for dynamic daily wear.

Overall, it’s a killer daily driver if you have smaller wrists. Happy to answer any questions!

New Le Petite Prince watches

Stopped into the IWC flagship store in NYC yesterday and tried on some of the new Le Petite Prince watches: chronograph, Mark XX (gold), and the perpetual calendar pro set (on bracelet). For reference, my wrist size is 7" (~17.8cm).

I was surprised at how nice the Mark XX looked and felt in gold. Though it and the perpetual calendar are outside my price range.

What do you guys think of the new watches?

Also, the NYC flagship store doesn’t have a Venturer for display yet, even though the sales associate told me someone has already ordered one.

Blue Mark XX

I went to the boutique to look at the newly released Mark XX LPP. Apart from the gold hands and the case back, seems like IWC used the same blue dial on the original blue Mark XX and LPP Mark XX.

I prefer the OEM rubber strap that comes with the LPP. The gold hands seem subtle (I cant tell for sure because of the store lighting) but am not sure how the gold hands will work on a tool watch.

Which version of the blue mark XX do you all prefer?

IWC Porsche Design Titan Chronograph

What should I know about this piece? I'm told it's the first serially produced watch and bracelet in titanium.

Surprised me on the wrist

Was lucky to be able to try on this today. So light, it’s super technical solution but not for everyone (unless you’re an astronaut). They don’t tell you but you’ve to slide the rocket buttons before pushing them, a nice touch which stops accidental engagement

ProSet movement & dials

It looks like this somewhat gaudy pink watch Ed Sheeran appeared with last summer was the first ProSet movement watch, looking at the dial layout, central seconds, size. I’m not sure why IWC didn’t make more of a fuss of this at W&W, focusing more on the VAST watch and Ceralume.

I’ve just watched the assembly video of the perpetual ProSet on YouTube. Has some very fine tolerance gearing with flexible parts that I’d imagine are only possible to manufacture with state of the art equipment and materials. A properly impressive technical step.

Even the first set of watches they put them in, Petite Prince (not my thing) steel & white ceramic and gold were slightly odd choices. So I’m looking forward to where this line goes - titanium, Ceratanium darker ceramic. Also whether it can be engineered to accommodate the twin barrels of the full size Big Pilot for the 7-day power reserve.

The dial is also a bit cluttered - it doesn’t need the Day & Date subdials to be labelled - most humans can work that out.

Also the numbers remain uncut on the ceramic 43mm vs the steel and gold 42mm versions where only the 1 survives unscathed - obviously it’s a trade off of 1mm on the case size but the cut numbers would bother me and looks unbalanced.

So looking forward to seeing where this line goes & the 43mm would be my choice - likely some more releases this year along with a few more 50th anniversary Ingenieurs.

IWC 328101 strap

Hey,

I just came by an IWC 328101 Laureus with a blue nato strap, the same model that they had on the black ceramic Top Gun model. But I can’t find any more images or sources with that strap, do anyone have any info on it?
