So recently I got in trouble with my parents because I lied about where I was going, when in reality I went to a party and found out I was drinking there. They said as punishment I’m no longer allowed to stay the night anywhere but I had a trip to New York I planned with my friends in 4 weeks. I always let them know if I’m doing out of town trips in the past and was gonna ask to see if they’ll be more lenient but if not I’m thinking should I just take this trip anyway. I’m 21 about to be 22 this summer although I planned more trips this summer to meet them midway I was gonna just do this trip and stay at home the rest of the summer. I really know this can make them more angry but at this point they cannot control my every move.

I f(20) met this dude at a party in October became mutuals on social and we began texting in march because he commissioned an art piece from me. The conversations are friendly but I thought he was cute so I confide in my friends (not the girl in question) that he’s cute but it’s giving friendly vibes from both sides so I’m just gonna see how this plays out, fast forward a month ago we see each other at party and I introduce him to my friends ( Friend A was present) and then dude and I are talk on the side for a little. As we’re going home friend A is saying how’s he cute and got his number but I don’t think much after that. 2 weeks ago dude and I kiss at a party, I don’t put in too much thought about the kiss because they’re like hugs to me at parties, and apparently him too because we’re still friendly afterwards. A week later I tell my friend who is a mutual between me and friend A that we kissed and she tells me dude and friend A have been getting serious like calling and seeing each other everyday which I had NO idea. I immediately tell friend A and clear up everything. She said she’ll have to think about how to continue with him but knows I didn’t know so it’s okay. So heres the issue: I still see potential in him and I, and I thought our friendship would slow burn into a relationship. Friend A and him have known each other for about 4 weeks total (including the calls and seeing each other). I have no idea if she decided to drop him or if he was taking this 4 week dating stage just as serious as her. I feel like by girls code I shouldn’t entertain him more than usual friendship because they were (or are) talking and I guess I was too slow to get to him first. But also I feel like it isn’t fair because she hasn’t even known the dude for a full month and now he’s completely off limits. I’m really torn because of this whole thing and timeline is messy
