Is Naoya the ultimate personification of a loser in JJK?

I’m curious about why Naoya is the way he is.

Naoya wasn’t even chosen as heir by his own father, even though they shared the same technique and his father had filled his head with ideas of being a 'genius.' His father and the clan itself looked more favorably upon Megumi than him.

His peers hate him; no one has any genuine respect for him based on connection, empathy, or leadership. His very nature is repellent.

In his first fight against Choso, he got overconfident and took a total beating. With a single attack and some poison, he was put to sleep, left crawling on the ground until Yuta came to save him.

In his second fight against Maki, he kept underestimating her even when he stopped holding back. He took a punch to the face that literally crushed his skull.

Upon his return, Maki’s mother stabbed him, and he died without any epic battle; he never even came close to the status he claimed for himself when comparing himself to Toji and Satoru.

In his cursed spirit form, he got overconfident once again. Even after his first hit knocked Maki down, he chose to play with his food, getting torn apart by Daido. And just when he was so close, he was run through by Maki’s sword again. Even at the threshold of death, his ego caused his defeat once more.

He doesn’t even have a real 'if this had happened, he would have won' statement. It’s his fans who create those scenarios: 'if he had used cursed tools,' 'if he had gone all out,' 'if he had done this.' It seems Naoya’s personality is simply stupid, and the author never had any real intention of letting him win any of his relevant fights.

It feels like his character exists only to make others shine

Page 1: Very clear. Yuta is shown as the leader of the heavy hitters while Hakari and Maki are besides him.

Page 2: Gojo states that if he gets weaker than YUTA and/or Hakari to join the fight. Maki says that no and that she will join since Yuta is the main insurance. Yuji is never mentioned as an option to join and in fact he says that Yuta should join the fight. Even though stats wise he is within a range of relativity to the three in stats he’s still below everyone else here mentioned overall as a fighter.

And no unlocking a low output shrine that’s only hyper effective against reincarnated sorcerers and a makeshift domain expansion doesn’t make you a heavy hitter. There’s characters who’re more versatile than Yuji, has more jujutsu abilities and even a domain that aren’t heavy hitter level.
