Divorced, back in the US. m/37 Temporarily staying at my parents to save, etc. How long should I stay here before it begins to get weird?

Divorced my ex, no kids, we lived in Canada. I'm originally from the US. We moved up there. I took a new career there, once we separated I got my own place, but 6 months later the company I worked with had massive corporate layoffs, so I had to look for a new job. It was a lot of change.

I got an offer for a company in the home city where I'm from, so I took the offer. moved out of Canada, and to get set up I decided to take my parents up on their offer to crash there for awhile.

They are very kind people, both retired, so they are always home...and I work from home a few days a week.

Its a good opportunity for me to take a breathe after all this change, and save....

I've been keeping busy with hobbies, work, etc. cost of living in this area is stupid high...and you get like an old beat up apt for like 2k/month or you pay 450k for an old studio in the city.

I'm thinking I should relocate to a city with a lesser cost of living.

Honestly, how long should I stay here before it starts to just eat away at me and be more stressful then its worth (even though im able to save)...?

Confused, noise of layoffs, inflation, tariffs, gas prices up, etc. yet you still see tons of housing development, lines at stores, shopping, travel, etc. whats really going on, I could use some advice on whats the reality?

As mentioned, you can't go a day without hearing about inflation, gas prices, (occasionally) corporate layoffs, $25 dollar hamburgers at restaurants, massive brand new SUVs taking up half the road, etc...yet at the same time, I look around..and people are still spending...and spending a lot.

Hoards of people traveling, in Starbucks paying overpriced coffee, restaurants full, retail is busy, lots of real estate development occurring in major metros, many people still buying houses, moving, etc....

I could use some advice on whats really going on with the economy right now?

Those who own there own real estate development company, how is the market right now?

Honestly, all my builder friends are busy, and the RE Dev company I work is still signing leases, like the economy is going as normal..which is interesting given all the political crap going on.

Anyhow, how's your business doing and when did you get started?

I need to get started on my own, I'm tired of being pigeonholed in my company and am way to ambitious for what I am being paid to do

Has anybody from the US been able to get a construction management job outside of the country?

I'd like to travel and work, perhaps get a job in another English speaking country, ideally in Africa...yet I would be open to Europe as well.

Anybody have experience doing this?
