Hello! I live in eastern NC, US. I had a repairman over and moved a vent by my stove that goes to the outside. I live near a wooded area. Suddenly there were a ton of these little guys.

I think they’re ticks, and at first that they must have just hatched or something, but I they have eight legs now which I thought meant they’ve fed at least once and are on second instar? I don’t have pets and I don’t think I’ve been bit so this behavior is confusing.

Anyone know more about what kind of tick this is and why they’re doing this?
