How can I help my dad?

My dad worked 25 years in a job. All my life I've only ever known him in that job. Unfortunately he was made heartbreakingly redundant after the management company on the building sold it to a off-shore company who have decided to cut staff. The job was Maintenance Manager for a building. he had beautifully looked after the building for 25 years. There was remarkably never a single injury at fault of the property for 25 years in a building with a footfall of thousands per year. The trees that are now outside and grown, were planted by him 25 years ago. He's now in his early 60s. He had planned to stay another few years and retire. It's been 10 months now and he's struggled to find work. He has had about 7 interviews but has failed each time. He truly believes they just think he's too old. It's heartbreaking to watch. He's not at the point of applying for any job he can find yet as he's still got money left from the redundancy pay. He still believes — and i believe — he can get a job just like what he had before. What can I do to help out? My mum is also very stressed too about the whole thing. I'd be grateful for any advice from people who have experienced similar in their life.

EDIT: WOW I'm blown away by all the kind and supportive words here. I've even had ppl DM me offering to help find work for him. I have shown my dad this morning the comments and it put a great big smile on his face. He's going to try applying for some of the positions mentioned below. Thanks everyone.

If this is true we're so cooked as a nation. Why can't these people find a job? Not shaming them here, genuinely was shocked when I read this.

I keep hearing people give horror stories but flats are the only affordable thing for a mortgage as a single person in my area. Should I just rent until I find a partner?

I told my boss in march i'm leaving May 1st. He accepted it and I didn't bother giving written notice as i sit next to him on the office and talk to him every day.

I told everyone else.

This week I've just had a "sorry you're leaving" card. But I noticed my boss didn't sign it. Turns out he has completely forgotten I'm leaving as he's just set me some tasks for the next two weeks (I leave on Friday).

What do I do. This is an absolute shambles I start my new job next week.

edit: the guy that does the payroll signed the leaving card. is this good enough?
