Transfer housing/roommates questions

Im still deciding where to commit right now and I have a couple of questions regarding the transfer housing that id really appreciate if someone could answer.

  1. what is the transfer housing like? What are the options, is it similar to the first years where it’s a suite or is it more of an apartment style? I know about pepper canyon West but I heard it’s a 12 month contract and I’m not willing to commit that length.

  2. roommates: if your a transfer and know you want a single do you still need to search for roommates? Or will everyone else in your apartment/suite be randomly assigned?

  3. parking: wondering whether I not I should bring my car. What are the parking options like?

Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone,

So recently I was accepted into my dream college and I honestly can’t believe it. I’ve worked so hard for this and I should feel nothing but excited but I’m terrified of how my parents will react when I bring it up to them.

The school is about 8 hours from home, which means I’d have to move out. Sometimes when I suggest the idea of moving out for college to my mom she’ll joke and say that she’ll move in with me. This is where things get complicated because woman in my family don’t move out until they get married. Both of my older sisters followed this expectation, and it’s more of a silent understanding from my parents that I would too. I don’t know how to even start the conversation with my parents. I’m so scared they’ll react badly or even cut me off completely. I hate that it feels like I’m choosing between my future and my family.

I’d really appreciate any advice or even just hearing from people who’ve gone through the same thing.
