Hi, I’m trying to understand my financial aid timeline and would appreciate any help from people who’ve been in a similar situation.

Here’s my situation:
I’m a California community college student (LACCD system)
I completed 16 units full-time in Fall 2025
I recently got my GED and submitted my FAFSA late (around mid–late April 2026, about 2–3 weeks ago)
Update as of May 3, 2026:
My financial aid portal just updated
I was awarded:
Pell Grant Fall 2025: ~$3,698
Pell Grant Spring 2026: ~$3,697
Status shows “Accepted”
Disbursement breakdown shows 2 payments per semester
No money has been disbursed yet (still shows $0.00 disbursed)
I’ve attached screenshots of what my portal looks like now.

My questions:
Since I applied late, will I actually receive the Fall 2025 Pell Grant even though that semester already passed?
If yes, does the Fall money usually:
Come together with the Spring disbursement?
Or come separately?
Now that my awards just showed up (May 3), how long does it usually take to actually receive the money?
Will I likely get:
One large deposit (Fall + Spring together)
Or multiple smaller deposits over time?

From what I understand, I was eligible in Fall since I was full-time, but I just want to confirm how the timeline and payout actually works when FAFSA is submitted late.
Any insight or personal timelines would really help. Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I’m currently a student at Los Angeles Valley College (LAVC) under LACCD and I recently submitted a SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) appeal for financial aid.

I was disqualified before due to not completing enough units, but since then I’ve completely turned things around. I went from failing grades to earning straight A’s and now have a 4.0 GPA. I also completed academic renewal, and even without it my GPA would be around a 3.1+.

I just submitted my appeal along with my transcript and GED, and my status is currently “In Review.”

I had a few questions for anyone who has gone through this at LACCD (especially LAVC):

How long did your SAP appeal take to get a decision?

Were you approved based mainly on academic improvement (without a major hardship reason)?

Does academic renewal actually help with SAP decisions?

Did they ask you for additional documents after submitting?

If approved, how long did it take for your financial aid to be disbursed?

I’d appreciate any insight or personal experiences. Thanks!
