When it's only negative distortions they are against and often even just negative thinking in general even if it's realistic.

Not every negative thought or idea is a distortion, especially if you grow up abused, then that negativity just is your life.

And research shows that "mentally healthy" people have plenty of positive distortions. They overestimate the likelihood of positive things happening (optimism bias), they overestimate their control over their life (illusion of control) and they overestimate their own abilities (illusionary superiority). But you never hear therapists discourage those distortions, they might even encourage them. Showing that they aren't actually against distorted thinking.

I hate this toxic positivy that therapy promotes.

It's so unfair that anyone can just have a child and abuse them, leaving them traumatized while society expects them to be at the same level as everyone else while offer no help. This is still true in my country of the Netherlands, which is supposedly the best country to raise children, so I can't imagine how it is in the rest of the world.

I'm so fucking done with having to do all this extra work because of something I didn't choose. It's not my fault my parents are horrible people but now it's my problem which I will have to carry for the rest of my life. I'm so sick of it, especially when I feel like therapy isn't even doing anything.
