[Longines Hydroconquest GMT 43mm] So I decided to see what all the hype was about

I just got it a few days ago. Not sure I will keep.
Here’s why-

I’ll start with the good…

The watch as a complete package looks great. The bracelet is very comfortable and looks great. The link edges could have used more polish but that’s nitpicking. The lugs are perfectly shaped. I even love the controversial crown guard. Overall great presence.

It’s thin, even more so for a GMT. I’m tired of hockey pucks.

Lug to lug exceeds 50mm… The dimensions are perfect for wrists around 7.5”.

It wears on my wrist extremely comfortably.

Based on these attributes alone it’s an excellent value at grey market prices…. And yet….

The bad…

The dial finish looks a little cheap. It’s a matte black but it’s just missing something. Can’t pinpoint it but looks meh.

The bezel has a *significant* amount of play. The clicks are nice but you can make it almost 1/2 way to the next click and rock it back and forth without much effort. I have a nearly 7 year old Breitling SOHII beaten to sh*t never serviced which has a bezel with absolutely zero play.

Legibility is an issue. In complete brightness it’s fine but the moment there is any shadow over the dial (think early evening) it’s so hard to read the hands. I can’t pinpoint why, maybe it’s the glossy finish. It has nothing to do with the lume because I’m talking about scenarios when it isn’t nearly dark enough for lume to kick on.

Not sure whether to keep it… on the fence…
