I tried to solve the Sheogorath shrine quest the dumbest way possible

You're supposed to cause a rat infestation then kill the sheep, right?

I heard there was an inn full of cheese so I took ALL THE CHEESE (vendor and display) and **broke into ALL THE HOUSES to drop a piece of cheese**, thinking it would logically attract rats

Nothing happened so I figured I needed to fulfill step 2: Sheep dying for no reason.

My dumb ass killed them sneakily using invisibility potions. Nothing happened still

I ended up looking up the soluce online. You're supposed to put a piece of cheese in the pot and poison the pen

Never felt so stupid but come on, there were too many pieces of cheese, I thought they would **have to** be useful

There's a famous theory according to which the Silver Hand, the organization fighting the Companions for being werewolves, were actually the original Companions who split from them once the Circle decided to become werewolves.

First, the Silver-Hand look and act like any bandit group. They have silver weapons and consumables to cure disease because they think lycanthropy is curable, but that's it. As far as the game goes, they're nothing but zealous werewolf hunters.

Second, they aggro you regardless of whether you're a Companion or not. They're just extremists who use torture, for all we know.

Third, yes, they have copies of Song of the return. But they also have books about lycanthropy, suggesting they're not interested in the Companions specifically but werewolves in general. Werewolves you find in their prison cells aren't even Companions.

As the questline progresses, it becomes evident that **the main antagonist is not the Silver Hand but Hircine himself**. The dragonborn brings the faction back to their ancient glory: Reforging Wuuthrad, killing the Glenmoril witches and getting rid of lycanthropy (except for Aela).

The Silver Hand look and act like any generic bandit faction because **writers didn't care about them**. They're not interesting and they have no redeeming quality. Maybe they were supposed to have a bigger role, but it got erased.

Many aspects (living like bandits, attacking anyone on sight, torture...) make them even worse than the Companions. I don't see how they're supposed to represent "a higher ideal" or whatever.

Tldr: They're just a half-baked werewolf hunter faction of generic bandits. There is nothing in the game suggesting they're the original Companions.

Many of you don't know this but personal interpretations of the Bible were never a thing. It's one of the reasons why Christendom has split, people think they can read 73 books better than priests who spent years on the teachings of Christ

The Old Testament was never meant to be taken literally, monks would spend decades studying OT books because they believed they carried a deeper philosophical meaning

As an ex-muslim, I noticed a lot of people who leave islam read the Bible, find violent verses about slavery or massacre, and think both religions are the same. Evangelicals even encourage them to do so, which turns them away from the truth

They read the Bible like they were taught to read the Quran, like a literal book of law and morals. It's not, it's only the case for books of the NT (not all)

This is also for christians: You most likely do not have the training to read the Bible to understand it on your own, this is why God gave us a church. Christianity is not the religion of a book, it is the religion of a man: Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Altmer: Obviously they should side with the empire so they can go to Skyrim and enjoy dominating *True sons of Skyrim*™

Bosmer: Side with the Stormcloaks because Ulfric loves mass executions = Free snacks

Bretons: Side with the empire because they're cucks

Dunmer: Side with the Stormcloaks so they can keep complaining because that's all they're good at

This post isn't a rant, I'm genuinely curious to know what you guys think about this point of the questline:

If you side with the Dawnguard and agree to help them stop the vampire menace, it makes no sense to not kill her on the spot.

She shows no sign of being unbeatable, she's in a weakened state when you find her, and she has an elder scroll.

When Isran asks you why you delivered her to clan Volkihar, you get three options:

  • "I'm lucky I made it out alive."
  • "There were too many of them, and only one of me."
  • "I never got the chance."

None of these options make sense given that you had the opportunity to murder her on the spot. The game doesn't give you a reason why you don't kill her, even Isran is mad. And because this is Bethesda™ Isran doesn't seem to care about the fact that it makes you a terrible Dawnguard agent who can't be trusted.

If the dragonborn knows what an elder scroll is, he should kill her immediately before she has a chance to use it on him.

Many players ignore this, but you can report her presence to Isran before delivering her to Volkihar. He tells you to follow through:

>"I won't lie - if this were any other situation, I'd put her down just on the chance she might be a vampire. But this is something different. I'd say do what she wants. Take her home, and see who else is in this castle."

This might be the dumbest line in the DLC: Isran doesn't know anything about Serana. He's either sending you to die, or get turned into a vampire. He has no reason to think that you'll make it out alive. This is either poor writing, or evidence that Isran is completely nuts.

Some people on Reddit argue that she doesn't attack you first, causing the dragonborn to be friendly to her. This doesn't make sense either because in Dawnguard radiant quests the MO is always to murder vampires just for being vampires, regardless of their hostility

Another reason mentioned is that Isran sends you on a recon mission. But even as a recon agent, it's dumb to walk inside a castle full of vampires and give them an elder scroll. Even Isran admits that it makes everything worse.

There are two logical options as a Dawnguard agent:

  • Kill her and take the scroll
  • Capture her and interrogate her under torture

(Yeah both are terrible because we love Serana, but at this point of the quest you know nothing about her and she's adamant about not trusting you. You're not friends, you're just an idiot who agrees to help the enemy)

I think it comes down to lazy writing, or Isran taking a stupidly risky bet, which is out of character for him (being a zealous Stendarr worshipping vampire hunter)

I know the mod Serana Dialogue Add-on is controversial but at least it fixes this plothole: If she ends up trusting you, she reveals that >!she used a spell on you an feels super guilty about it. This explanation makes sense because she's a powerful mage.!< This would be a logical explanation.

Or she immediately used vampire seduction on you to make you a thrall. Then why do you get the option to report her to Isran?

Or the dragonborn was simply horny~
