What am I doing wrong?
I’m in southern TX, just moved to a new place, and the lawn care has been rough. I noticed there are a lot of June bugs here so I spread some June bug killer in the soil thinking their grubs were eating up the roots of the lawn. Next because of the clay I decided to core aerate and then spread a thin layer of compost into the soil to help with the soil quality.
I water twice a week, running two cycles each day; once at 3am, and again at 4am, the idea being that having two shorter watering sessions will allow time for the clay soil to better absorb the moisture. It has also been the rainy season here, so it’s getting a little extra water every now and then, and I keep the mower up on level 4 but still seems to be the same cruddy color it was in winter and seems to not really be growing in at all, just staying half alive. Pretty sure the grass is Bermuda. I’ve been working at trying to cultivate this lawn for about 2 months now (basically since the growing season began) while preemptively spraying weeds over the colder months to get a head start on getting rid of weeds. I have successfully exterminated 98% of dandelions and 100% of the thistles that way. Anyways any tips and advice appreciated.
