Debian 12 audio output keeps switching and making noise, even though the hardware is fine

Hi! I’m looking for help with a persistent audio issue on my fresh Debian 12 installation.

My system keeps switching the audio output back and forth on its own, as if I were constantly plugging and unplugging my headphones into the rear jack. The hardware is perfectly fine, but the system software is acting up, causing the settings to jump around and producing constant, annoying noises in my headphones.

This is not how an audio system should behave. I need a permanent, clean way to disable this automatic jack detection/switching entirely so that my audio output remains stable and the noise stops.

Does anyone know how to force the system to ignore these false signals and just keep the audio output fixed? I am looking for a reliable, permanent fix that doesn't require constant manual adjustments.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: 3D Artist positions are now filled. We are currently looking specifically for a Technical Artist / Texture Artist to join our existing team!

⚠️ READ BEFORE APPLYING: THIS IS AN UNPAID / REVSHARE HOBBY PROJECT ⚠️

Project Status: We are developing a bus simulator in Unity 6. We have 3 dedicated 3D Modelers and a solid C# foundation. We use GitHub for version control.

Your Role:

  • Animation Implementation: Set up Blender animations in Unity Animator for smooth, script-ready movement (doors, steering, etc.).
  • Texturing: Finalize materials and textures for vehicles and buildings inside the engine.
  • Note: We provide high-quality textures! You only need to handle the material setup and mapping within Unity.

How to Apply (Verification): To ensure we find a serious partner, please provide a portfolio OR a short video clip in Discord DM showing your Unity editor open with your Windows taskbar visible. This is to verify your technical workflow.

Documentation: A detailed Project Plan (PDF) is available on our Discord. Please read it before introducing yourself.

Hi everyone,

First, a quick heads-up: if you saw any strange posts from this account recently, please ignore them. My profile was compromised, but I’ve since secured it with 2FA. I’m back and focused on my real project.

How it started: The project began about 1.5 months ago through a conversation with a friend. He asked me what we should do with my old PC, and I told him: "Anything but game development!" We agreed to use it as a dedicated game server just so it wouldn't collect dust.

While running the server, I started playing and modding, which is how I met my current 3D Modeler partner. We were both deep into modding, and after seeing the technical setup I had, he was the one who asked about the possibilities: why just make mods for other games when we could build something of our own? Despite my initial hesitation, his suggestion convinced me, and we’ve been working full-steam on our own simulator ever since.

What we have (A massive pile of raw assets): We aren't just starting with an idea; we have plenty of "building blocks" ready. A detailed Project Plan and a Technical Specification (both in PDF format) are already uploaded to our Discord server. (The raw assets are kept offline for now due to their size and for security reasons, but I can show them during a call):

  • Audio: 2 GB of professional, self-recorded bus audio (engines, pneumatics, gearboxes). Note: This is raw data that still needs sorting.
  • Textures: Roughly 1 GB of textures and completed 3D models waiting for final touches.
  • Code: Solid C# foundations and driving physics in Unity.

The Problem: We’ve hit a specific "technical wall": steering wheel pivot/axis issues. Everything looks perfect in Blender, but upon exporting to Unity, the axes shift and the wheel doesn't rotate correctly. We also need help properly mapping textures and implementing the raw audio into the engine.

Who we are looking for: A Technical Artist who can help us untangle these 3D pipeline issues and join us long-term on a Revenue Share basis.

⚠️ ATTENTION: I will not be responding to Reddit comments and I do not read Reddit DMs. If you are interested in the project, you must contact us via our Discord server to read the PDF documentation and discuss the next steps:
