A quick introduction. I had a Thrustmaster T300 for a while. But it was already old because I bought it used and decided to trade it in for the T598, which was on sale for $385. However, by the time I sold the T300, the price had returned to $500, and it lasts longer, sometimes even more expensive. This raised some questions, and I'm hoping you can help me answer them based on your own experience.
- Which option is best? More gear for GT7, FH, ET2, than for advanced sim racing.
a) Should I buy the T300 back, but not the 7/8-year-old model?
b) Should I buy the T598 for $450/$500, or wait for a sale?
c) Add about $300 more and get the Logitech RS50 or Fanatec DD Pro 5Nm? 2. I've been seriously considering buying the Logitech RS50 or the Fanatec DD Pro 5Nm for a few days now. However, this raises further questions:
2.1. Which setup is the better choice? Logitech RS50 or Fanatec DD Pro 5Nm
2.2. Both have the following advantages:
- Multiplatform compatibility; with the right configuration, you can also run Xbox One, which allows you to play Forz Motorsport.
- I keep hearing about problems with the T598, and knowing my luck, I have a higher chance of getting a model with problems.
- Better quality steering wheels, although I think I like the RS50 one better, but the T598 is 30cm.
- Sleeker bases than the T598, but without a speed display, etc.
2.3. But questions keep popping up in the back of my mind:
- Is it really worth the extra money? Is the jump from the T598 to the RS50 or DD Pro 5Nm worth the extra $300/$350? I was hoping to get a steering wheel for $200/$250, so I opted for a used T300, and then I'd have to buy a folding cockpit for $300.
- Do I really need that much hardware for fun without any real involvement in Sim racing? I'll probably buy an F1 to test out sometime once the steering wheel is available.
- When making such purchases, you also need to think ahead. The question is, are any of these setups most likely to work with the PS6?
