i (15f) have a friend (15f) who constantly makes fun of things i like, especially k-pop. it’s not just occasional jokes, it’s pretty much every time we talk. she’s even gone through my social media and counted how many k-pop accounts i follow to embarrass me (it’s like 30 out of 500).

the other day, i joked back about where she was born (it just has a funny name). i thought it was harmless since she jokes about me all the time, but she got really mad and started insulting me, saying my humor was childish. even when i tried to drop it, she kept going.

on the bus, she started arguing with me loudly in front of other people, which was really embarrassing. i ended up putting my headphones in and ignoring her because i didn’t want to keep arguing in front of everyone.

now she’s mad at me for ignoring her and says i was rude for shutting her out instead of responding.

am i overreacting for ignoring her and feeling upset about how she treats me?

I have a friend who I feel like only reaches out when they need something, usually help with schoolwork. I’ve tried texting them just to talk before, but they either give really short replies or don’t respond at all.

Recently, they messaged me asking for help with an assignment that was due soon. It kind of annoyed me because it felt like the same pattern again—only talking to me when it benefits them.

So this time, I didn’t reply. I just left the message there.

Now they’re upset with me and saying I’m a bad friend for ignoring them, and a couple of mutual friends think I should’ve just helped anyway.

AITA for not responding?
