AITAH for not giving my girlfriend a heads up about my job

Context: My girlfriend and I just have a baby and aren’t in the best financial position. We’re behind on a lot of bills, we’re barely scraping by with rent. She’s getting 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave. I have a part time serving job (they won’t give me full time hours) two weeks ago I got a second severing job to make some more cash.
I worked at the second job before and they already know me, I let them know my availability because I have a newborn and want to be able to spend time with him and not work like a dog all the time. Last night my manager and owner said that they aren’t able to accommodate my hours because they’re short staffed and a family owned business. They also said that paternity leave isn’t protected so they don’t have to give me that time off to be with my son.
Im furious, I get not having to legally protect my leave or availability but I have a newborn and they should be understanding of that. I quit that job last night because I’m not working for a business that won’t prioritize family relationships. I explained the situation to my girlfriend and she’s super upset with me.
She called her family and they’re going off about how I’m being financially irresponsible and shouldn’t have quit my job because we need the money. But I don’t think it’s fair for me to work at a place that isn’t mindful of my schedule. I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong here.
