Where’s the best place to get a summer cabin near nature in the US?

In Texas. So sick of being hot.

We did the math and we can get a cabin somewhere for $350k. We would rent it some of the year. Ideally it would be on a little chunk of land.

The PNW is prohibitively expensive. So is Colorado. The northeast seems to have 2 options: Small mansion and derelict barn.

I know there are other places. What should I check out?

What’s the deal with eastern PA cabins?

I see a bunch of cabins for sale out there that look pretty decent and affordable, but I’ve been through there enough to know that some areas are nice and some areas really, really aren’t.

What little towns out there are nice?

My wife asked recently how many times we would have sex a week in my ideal world. I said twice a week, which is probably low, but it felt achievable. She said that was how she felt too.

This was news to me and remains very confusing. Maybe once a month if I’m lucky.

Honestly, there’s a part of me that would rather just stop altogether. Waiting around for her to pencil me in is humiliating. Oh, tonight’s the night? Wow. I must have been a very good boy this week. I get to go for a walk?

Don’t humor me.

I‘m a technical writer who has been in the tech industry for 15 years. I make $90k. The last two years, I’ve been a ”Project Lead” which is a fancy term for more responsibility for the same money. I should have left earlier, but frankly, we just had a baby last year and it wasn’t a good time.

At work, we’ve been spending most of our time plugging all of everything the company ever documented into an LLM. I went ahead and got a PMP to augment that experience.

Where to next? I will almost certainly be laid off next year. I’m 40. I want to get into proper project management. I want more money. My network has not been particularly useful and LinkedIn is a joke. A sad, sad joke.

Help me chart a course.
