title seems a little obvious but i’m not just talking about the conservatives, i’m talking about the cis people i’m friends with too. i’m genuinely convinced they get a kick out of “being able to tell” that i’m trans or being able to tell other people are trans. like trans people being trans is them trying to fool them or mislead them.

it gives off the impression that they’re saying “i can see through all that. i see you for who you truly are.” i don’t think it’s purposefully malicious. the sentiment that they “see me for who i am” is nice in text, but who i truly want to be is a normal dude. me being trans is just like me having brown eyes. like it’s really not that big of a deal for anyone but me.

there have been several occurrences where i’ve been seemingly shamed by other trans friends and cis people for NOT being able to clock someone. “You didn’t know so n so was trans??? omg i knew immediately.” congrats???? you pride yourself in seeing someone how they don’t wish to be seen?

when i ask my friends if i pass, it’s not because i’m trying to bait them. i always want them to be honest with me and i never get mad at their answer, but sometimes they either bring up the fact without me asking or they nitpick things they never nitpicked before. like the more they get to know me, the more “trans” i appear to them.

idk, just something i’ve been noticing over time
