Hi everyone,
I'd like a second opinion on my CPU temperatures, because I'm not sure whether this is typical Ryzen 7 5800X behaviour or a sign that something in my setup is not quite right.
Here's my current build:
- CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X
- Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Slim
- GPU: Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti
- Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Gaming X
- Case: be quiet! Pure Base 500DX
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz
- Storage: M.2 SSD + SATA SSD
While gaming, my CPU usually sits around 86-87°C, and it often stays at 90-91°C for quite a while. These are not just brief spikes. It remains in that range during the session.
I know the 5800X is known for running fairly hot, and I'm aware that 90°C is basically its thermal limit, but I'm still wondering whether this is higher than it should be for gaming.
A few details that may help:
- I've already cleaned the dust
- The thermal paste was changed less than 6 months ago
- I've attached a few pictures of the setup
My current case fan setup is:
- Front intake: 1 × be quiet! 140 mm + 1 × Arctic P12 Pro PST
- Top exhaust: 2 × Arctic P12 Pro PST
- Rear exhaust: 1 × be quiet! 140 mm
So the case has 2 front intake fans, 2 top exhaust fans, and 1 rear exhaust fan.
For people with a Ryzen 7 5800X: what temperatures do you usually see while gaming? Based on this setup, would you consider 90-91°C sustained something that should be fixed?
Thanks in advance.
