Here’re my recent empties and my ratings for them. Have you tried any of these matcha before?

Hi everyone, sharing my timeline because this process felt endless and honestly pretty draining at times. After 3 years, my case was finally approved!

There were moments I felt stuck watching life move on without me. I couldn’t go home to see my family, and that part was the hardest. But things do move, even when it feels like they won’t.

If you’re still waiting, hang in there. Your turn will come.

Here’s my timeline:
- April 2023: Applied for I-130 and I-485 concurrently
- October 2023: Received EAD (valid until 2028) and travel parole (expired within 1 year)
- March 2024: RFE for bona fide marriage evidence. Submitted response and I-130 was approved the same month. No movement on I-485.
- June 2024: Applied for new travel parole
- May 2025: Travel parole approved (yes it took 1 year) but lost in the mail so I couldn’t travel to see my family back home :(
- August 2025: Applied again for travel parole
- February 2026: Submitted congressional inquiry. Received medical RFE and responded the same month
- March 2026: Interview scheduled
- April 22, 2026: Interview day. Officers were kind and professional. Mostly yes or no questions from the I-485. My husband attended with me
- April 23, 2026: I-485 approved
- April 29, 2026: Card produced
- May 4, 2026: Green card received

It still feels surreal holding the card after such a long and nerve wracking process.

For context, I’m not from India or China and not affected by visa pauses.

Wishing everyone here good luck. Don’t lose hope.

Hi everyone! New to matcha here and documenting what I learn along the way.

I’ve always wanted that clean layered matcha latte you see at cafés. Finally figured out how to get it consistently.

Here’s exactly how I do it:

Step 1: Whisk matcha at a 1:10 ratio
• 4g matcha + 40g water at ~80°C
If you use too much water, the matcha won’t sit on top of the milk

Step 2: Add ice and 120 to 150 ml milk

Step 3: Add sweetener to the milk
• About 10g simple syrup
Adding sweetener directly into the matcha will weigh it down and ruin the layering

Step 4: Pour matcha last
• Slow pour gives you that clean layer

This method works every time and the layers hold for a while.

Taste doesn’t differ a lot with this method, but visually it just hits different. Makes the morning ritual feel a bit more special. Wish you success with this method!
